What has automation done to golf swing improvement techniques?

Most of the popular games in the world have some help or other from machines. In golf however, this is not so. All the training aid is not mechanized and is rather based on the technique of the training rather than automation. But there is one way where you could profit from the use of machine, though this can hardly be called a golf swing machine or even anything close to it.

The video camera can act as a teacher, coach and also advisor when it comes to practicing and improving your golf game. How? Have someone film you over a game or two where you think you have given your best there is. Then run it back and see it at two-three times. It will be easy for you to see where you are applying the wrong method, where your body posture is not right, where you could have applied more speed, better techniques and so on.

The best way to improve fast is to have a good coach watching you closely while playing so that he/she can pinpoint where you are going wrong. No amount of practice will really help you if it is not done towards eliminating your weak points. The coach alone can do that because he knows what should be and could be done better in any given circumstance.

However, there are times when you do not want or cannot have a coach watching your game. This is when you can use a video camera to record your game. A word of warning here - do not allow an amateur to film you. Have a person who knows what he/she is doing otherwise the film will be of no good in your training. The focus should be on how you are playing and the game and not on you.
